GAKU Pte. Ltd. and NASEF are pleased to announce that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) as both entities aim to grow globally in the esports industry. They plan to work together on a range of global esports initiatives to grow and drive advancements and deliver new opportunities for their respective country participants. 

Key leaders in both organizations met in Korea at the KeSPA Global Esports Camp in Daejeon, South Korea in June 2024. They immediately recognized the similar missions of GAKU and NASEF, and began discussing ways to multiply their efforts through collaboration. The two parties will support the development and sustainability of esports to benefit each other’s students, players, educators, and communities.

“We are very excited about the close collaboration that GAKU and NASEF will have through our different programs related to grassroots activation and supporting athletes to fulfill their potential which is part of the GAKU motto,” said Sayo Okamoto, CEO of GAKU Pte. Ltd.

“Through this partnership, NASEF and GAKU will empower more youth around the world to learn valuable skills through the increasingly-popular environment of gaming and esports,” said Jorrel Batac, COO of NASEF and USEF.GG. “Together, we will build on two of NASEF’s core objectives: Opportunity (providing a safe and engaging space for all students to connect, play, learn, and grow; and Community (building a strong community of interconnected scholar players who demonstrate leadership, accountability, commitment, and fortitude).”

The global nature of esports provides opportunities to connect youth from various backgrounds and locations, building mutual understanding and respect through gameplay and conversation. A first step in implementing the GAKU / NASEF partnership will be to establish promotion of cultural exchange opportunities in-person and online.
